What is the duration of the Tasmanian Legal Practice Course?
The Tasmanian Legal Practice runs from February to July each year over 24 weeks.
What is the workload like?
The Tasmanian Legal Practice Course workload is full-time with core training occurring on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, allowing trainees flexibility for other commitments or work roles.
What units are taught as part of the Tasmanian Legal Practice Course?
There are seven (7) core units taught as part of the Tasmanian Legal Practice Course. For a schedule of units, refer to the course structure of the Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice.
When do applications open?
Applications open around June/July of the year prior to the course commencement. Find out more about the University’s Application Dates.
When to applications close?
Applicants are given preference if they apply by 31 October. It is still possible to apply after this date subject to course quotas. Contact us for further information by submitting your enquiry here.
Can I defer my enrolment?
Deferral is not currently offered for the Tasmanian Legal Practice Course.
When will I be admitted to legal practice?
Successful graduates can expect to be admitted as a legal practitioner in August at a ceremonial admission sitting in the Supreme Court of Tasmania, Hobart.
