Advocacy training is an important part of building skills in court craft for our trainees. Throughout the Tasmanian Legal Practice Course, trainees participate in fortnightly advocacy exercises in the Magistrates Court of Tasmania, appearing on court applications based on “real life” scenarios. This helps our trainees develop confidence in their oral advocacy skills and provides them with familiarisation of all aspects of the daily operations of the Magistrates Court. We are very fortunate that members of the Magistracy regularly preside over these practical exercises and provide valuable feedback and guidance on the trainees’ appearances.
