End of 2024 TLPC

After another busy but successful year, the 2024 TLPC ended on 18 July 2024. After spending 3 weeks on work experience placement in May/June, trainees returned to the Centre for the final few weeks of the Course.

Trainees were certainly kept busy, continuing to prepare for and participate in advocacy exercises across a range of jurisdictions. These included appearances in the Personal Compensation Stream of the Tasmanian Civil and Administrative Tribunal on a workers compensation matter, advocating for a client in a mock “Conciliation Conference” focused on an industrial relations and employment matter, and undertaking final appearances in the Magistrates Court and Supreme Court on defended matters practising their examination in chief and cross examination skills. On a lighter note, the end of course “Firm Olympics” was highly contested, particularly the “Scavenger Hunt” which saw our trainees racing around the streets of Hobart in an effort to win the coveted “Cadbury Favourites” prizes!
